چکیده

Pyrimidine constitutes a diverse category among various heterocyclic compounds with broad-ranging applications in medicinal chemistry and agriculture. In recent years, for the advancement of novel synthetic techniques for the efficient synthesis of various pyrimidine-based compounds, substantial studies were done. This review article provides a comprehensive overview on the latest advancements (2020-2024) in the synthesis of pyrimidine analogues, by focusing on essential strategies, and practical applications. The review commences by highlighting the crucial role of pyrimidine analogues in pharmaceutical research and development. It goes on to explore various techniques for the synthesis of pyrimidine analogues encompassing both traditional and contemporary pathways. The latest approaches mainly focus on developing techniques that are eco-friendly and sustainable along with the incorporation of computational tools and catalysis to streamline the synthesis.
