The seven-hundred-page book on public international law by Muhammad Mazaher, also known as Sadigh Hazrat, was written in 1911 and was used by law students for many years as one of the first Persian sources of international law. Gradually, especially after the changes that international law had undergone with the bitter experience of two world wars, this valuable book was replaced by newer and more up-to-date texts. Now, more than a century has now passed since the publication of Sadigh Hazrat's book, and this work is part of the history of Iranian law that requires study, scrutiny, and examination in order to preserve it as the scientific heritage of Iran and transfer it to future generations. On the pretext of republishing this book in 2025 by the Encyclopedia of Iranistics Publications, this article revisits its contents and briefly introduces the work and its author; a precious book that is a testament to more than a century of translation and compilation of international law in Iran.
