Petroleum reservoirs are classified into different types, including dry gas, wet gas, retrograde gas, volatile oil, and black oil. Dry gas reservoirs do not produce any liquid under normal conditions and do not require a production unit at the surface. Other types of reservoir fluids produce liquid when they reach the surface, so a production unit is necessary to optimize their extraction. The objective of this article is to optimize the production unit system in an Iranian retrograde gas reservoir with the help of Aspen Hysys, WinProp, and Multiflash softwares to obtain the maximum rate of stock tank liquid production. The simulation results showed that the three-stage separator system had the biggest impact on the optimization. Additionally, Multiflash software was found to be the best option for designing optimal pressure due to its lower error rate compared to the other two options (16.07% for the API parameter and 21.47% for the condensate gas ratio (CGR)).
