The integration of digital technologies into public governance has emerged as a major enabler of green innovation, aligning technological progress with sustainability goals. Leveraging data from A-share listed firms across 31 provinces in China between 2007 and 2023, this paper investigates the role of comprehensive digital government platforms in fostering green innovation. A quasi-natural experimental design is employed, alongside a Difference-In-Differences (DID) methodology, to quantify the impact of such platforms. The results indicate that digital governance significantly drives green innovation by streamlining subsidy distribution, cutting transaction costs, and optimizing operational processes. Moreover, the effects are more evident in regions with lower-quality governance and among firms such as non-State-Owned Enterprises (non-SOEs) or those situated in less developed markets.
