Antibiotic Resistance of Non-Lactose-Fermenting Gram-Negative Bacteria in Urinary Tract Infections

چکیده

The present study attempted to assess the resistance level of non-fermented Gram-negative bacteria in urine specimens to antibiotics targeting lactose sugar. A total of 100 specimens of urine were obtained from individuals diagnosed with infections of urinary tract, divided into 75 specimens for females and 25 samples for males, and blood agar and macConky agar media were used to culture the samples in a manner. Plotting on the media and after the incubation period, 85 isolates were obtained and divided into 10 Gram-positive isolates and 75 Gram-negative samples. 20 out of 75 isolates appeared non-fermenting for lactose, and the study extended from July 2018 to the end of 2018 . The results showed that females are more susceptible to infection with non-lactose-fermenting bacteria in the urinary tract, as the total number of negative non-lactose-fermenting isolates taken from females was 16 out of 20, at a rate of 80%, while the number of isolates taken from men’s samples was 4 out of 20 by 20%. The results of the research showed the efficiency of some antibiotics in killing and inhibiting the growth of bacteria that do not ferment the sugar lactose, while some other antibiotics gave small rates of inhibition against this type of bacteria, as the antibiotic. Nitrofurantoin gave the highest rate of inhibition, reaching 100%, while the antibiotic Ticarcillin gave a rate of 4%.
