Smart and Sustainable: Leveraging Innovation and Circular Economy Principles to Rebuild Climate-Resilient Tourism

This study examines the intersection of sustainability, digital innovation, and climate resilience within the global tourism sector, aiming to identify the transformative pathways necessary to align tourism with contemporary environmental and socio-economic challenges. Drawing on a mixed-methods approach—including quantitative analysis of emission reductions, resilience index modeling, and qualitative paradigmatic assessment—this research evaluates how green incentives, circular economy integration, and emerging technologies such as AI and blockchain are reshaping destination management and stakeholder behavior. Findings reveal that tourism enterprises and destinations embracing regenerative practices and digital tools achieve significantly lower carbon emission intensity, faster post-crisis recovery, and greater alignment with transformative sustainability paradigms. The study further identifies critical gaps between compliance-based practices and deeper systemic change, highlighting the need for policy frameworks that support inclusive digital access, long-term ecological planning, and stakeholder empowerment. By linking empirical outcomes with ideological shifts, this research contributes to the discourse on sustainable tourism development and proposes a multidimensional framework for reimagining tourism as a driver of climate responsibility, innovation, and socio-ecological regeneration.
