Explaining the impact of academic motivation, metacognitive ability, and self-efficacy on students' academic performance using structural equation

One of the most significant challenges and concerns of the country's educational system is identifying the factors influencing students' academic success. Therefore, this study aimed to explain the impact of academic motivation, metacognitive ability, and self-efficacy on students' academic performance. The present research is applied in nature based on its goal, and it is considered a descriptive survey method based on data collection. The study was conducted on 97 experts and professionals from the Department of Education in Karaj city. After data collection, the data were analyzed using the Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) technique with Excel and structural equation modeling (SEM) based on covariance analysis using Smart PLS software. The overall analysis results indicated that academic motivation, metacognitive ability, and self-efficacy influence students' academic performance. Among them, self-efficacy, metacognitive abilities, and academic motivation had the most and least impact on academic performance, respectively. Additionally, the results of model validation showed that the obtained model possesses appropriate validity, reliability, and credibility.
