Abnormally Elevated Prostate Specific Antigen Caused by Prostate Abscess with Hyperthyroidism: A Case Report

Introduction: Prostatic abscess (PA) is a rare condition that can complicate diagnostic evaluation due to nonspecific symptoms and overlap with malignancy.Case presentation: This report describes a 63-year-old male with poorly controlled hyperthyroidism presenting with markedly elevated total PSA (239.00ng/mL). Imaging and biopsy confirmed benign prostatic hyperplasia with PA, while thyroid dysfunction appeared to contributed to an altered PSA dynamic. Treatment with antibiotics and thyroid management normalized the PSA levels. Conclusion: Our findings highlight the need for integrative clinical assessments in atypical PSA elevations, underscoring the importance of considering PA and endocrine influences to avoid misdiagnosis.
