Investigation on Factors Influencing Development of a Smart City Model in Hanoi

This study analyzes the factors influencing the development of a smart-city model in Hanoi, with a focus on the system of five satellite cities. The research employed a survey of 350 individuals living and working in Hanoi; the collected data were processed using scale reliability testing, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), and multiple linear regression. The findings show that all six groups of factors affect smart-city development, with smart governance exerting the strongest impact, followed by smart economy and smart people; smart environment, smart living, and smart mobility have relatively weaker effects. On this basis, the study clarifies the strategic role of the five satellite cities— Hoa Lac, Son Tay, Xuan Mai, Phu Xuyen, and Soc Son —in Hanoi’s smart-city development structure, contributing to the expansion of development space and the reduction of pressure on the inner city.
