This paper investigates the mechanism of the effect of ultrasound on heavy oil and develops a mathematical model describing the transformation of ultrasonic wave energy into thermal energy in an oil sample. The model takes into account key parameters of ultrasonic radiation (intensity and frequency) as well as physicochemical properties of oil (density and initial viscosity). The experimental verification of the model was carried out in the laboratory at Saint Petersburg Mining University using equipment for generating ultrasonic waves and monitoring the temperature of the sample. As a result, the following was found: a reduction in oil viscosity by 50-60% under the influence of ultrasound, a reduction in processing time by 30-70% compared to traditional methods, and the transition from a non-Newtonian flow model to a Newtonian model under the influence of ultrasonic radiation. The results obtained offer promising opportunities for optimizing transportation and processing heavy oil using ultrasonic technology.
