The aim of this research is to explain the role of the circular economy (CE) in the wind turbine supply chain as a means of creation sustainable value. This study addresses design and innovation for sustainability, as well as the concepts of circular economy and closing material loops, and their application within the wind turbine industry supply chain. Additionally, environmental impacts are examined and evaluated to ensure that the environmental aspects of sustainability principles are comprehensively considered. The circularity potential of wind turbine is assessed using the Material Circularity Indicator (MCI) to evaluate circularity metrics. This research also develops a method for linking issues related to decommissioning, the circular economy, and life cycle assessment (LCA) by examining human health, ecosystems, and resource dimensions. Ultimately, this research highlights the role of the circular economy as a new approach and reuse and recycling for tackling environmental and social challenges in the wind turbine supply chain, serving as a tool for creating sustainable value.
