چکیده
A large volume of blood is lost during spinal surgery. Blood and irs products transfusion has risk for patients, so differen! methods are used to reduce bleeding and Tr.mexamic Acid (TA) is one. which has been used successfully ,n liver surgery and total knee anhroplasty. /1 is not expensive and does not have seflous side effects. SttJdies on this drug in spine surgery are limited. Sixty patients 25-45 yrs of age were given randomly either tranexamic acid (10 mg/kg that was infused in half an hour) or placebo (Isotonic sa/in). Penoperat,ve management was standardized. The total amount of blood transfused and intraoperatfve blood loss in the per, operat,ve period was sign1f1canlly reduced in the tranexamic group (P=0.044). Surgeon's satisfaction and operative field condition between 2 groups were significantly different. The administr;:,tion of prophylactic tranexamic acid in /aminectomy patients has the potential to reduce perioperative blood loss and tronsfusion.
