چکیده

This study investigates the potential of natural compounds, particularly from medicinal plants, in the treatment of inflammatory processes. Compared to synthetic drugs, natural agents often provide mild immunomodulatory effects, exhibit low toxicity, and support the immune, nervous, and endocrine systems through complex biologically active substances. These properties make plant-derived compounds an essential focus for current research, especially in the context of inflammatory diseases and immune modulation. Among the diverse flora of Kazakhstan, Houttuynia cordata ‘Chameleon’ shows promise as an anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antioxidant, and antitumor agent. Previous studies, including research by Hong Kong University of Chinese Medicine, demonstrate the immunomodulatory properties of Houttuynia cordata, which may aid in preventing viral infections, such as those caused by SARS-CoV-2. The plant's bioactive compounds appear to support cell-mediated immunity, underscoring the potential of natural compounds in pharmacology and related fields such as cell biology, immunology, and pathophysiology. This study aims to further examine these mechanisms, highlighting the medicinal potential of Kazakhstan’s unique flora.
