A Sustainable Ship Routing and Scheduling Problem with a Ship Engine

چکیده

The increasing demand for sea transportation has become a challenging problem for the routing and scheduling of ships. This paper presents a multi-objective mixed-integer programming model for optimizing the routing and scheduling of ships in the Aeolian Islands of the Tyrrhenian Sea. This model is applied to the shipping industry in four main objectives, and is assessed economically and environmentally. Given the importance of sustainability and energy in this study, the technical factors of the ship’s main engine (e.g., motor power, load factor, and capacity) are used to calculate fuel consumption and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. The efficiency of the proposed model is evaluated by two different scenarios under a limited situation, and the AUGMECON2 method. The numerical results of this method demonstrate the use of modern navigation and various types, improving the performance of the transportation system by 54.4 percent, thereby optimizing energy consumption and reducing CO2 emissions. Finally, the conclusion and further research are presented.
