Equivalent of “Inna” in Persian at the Beginning of the Holy Quran Verses Regarding Generative Transformational Grammar

Understanding the syntactic meaning of Quranic terms based on traditional Arabic syntax suffers from a number of shortcomings. New linguistics with a scientific approach to language has removed and compensated for some of these problems. There exist different schools in new linguistics. One of these is Chomsky’s linguistics known as generative transformational grammar which is very helpful in decoding the syntactic meaning of the terms used in Quran. At the outset, this article explains generative transformational grammar. Then, this grammar is used in order to understand the meaning of “Inna” at the beginning of Quran verses. Results indicated that “Inna” is not always for emphasis and is in cases only a verbal signal without any special meaning. Therefore, translators should avoid “Inna” in translating Arabic to any other languages In case it is not for the sake of emphasis.
