چکیده

Electrochemical oxidation is an effective approach for treating textile and household wastewater owing to its enhanced energy efficiency and straightforward operation. This research explores the effectiveness of stainless-steel substrates coated with nanostructured SnO2 electrodes in the electrochemical oxidation of indigo carmine dye and domestic wastewater. This study assessed the impact of various reaction conditions on the electrochemical oxidation process. Factors such as the initial pH, sodium chloride electrolyte concentration, and applied voltage were examined for their influence on dye and wastewater oxidation. The SnO2 nanoparticles were produced via a straightforward chemical precipitation technique. This study demonstrates the fabrication of SnO2 nanoparticles via chemical precipitation and their coating onto stainless steel (SS) electrodes to enhance the electrochemical oxidation of indigo carmine dye and domestic wastewater. Under optimal conditions (0.1 M NaCl, pH 3, 10 V), dye degradation reached completion in 30 seconds, and Chemical Oxygen demand (COD) /Biological Oxygen demand (BOD) removal from wastewater was 88.25% and 87%, respectively. The results establish SnO₂-coated stainless steel electrodes as a novel, efficient, and economically viable anode material for wastewater treatment applications.
