چکیده

The use of herbs has been growing in recent years, and is still showing an upward trend. Thus, attempts to review and revive these ancient herbs are rational, and understanding their mechanisms of action can lead to formation and approval of novel treatments for many diseases. Curcumin is the natural bioactive compound in turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) with numerous therapeutic effects, which can be potentially used in prevention of various cancers. In this research, through the interaction between curcumin and a number of amines, some new derivatives of curcumin were synthesized. To compare the efficacy of the products, the reaction was conducted in ultrasound bath conditions, reflux, and stirring. Additionally, the effects of resulting derivatives were studied on MCF-7 breast cancer cell line via MTT method. The derivatives of urea and thiourea had a significant effect on death of cancerous cells at all doses, while other derivatives led to a significant reduction in the number of cancerous cells at doses 25 and 50 µmolar
