Estimation of Phyto-Constituents and Molecular Docking Studies of Fatty Acids from Emblica officinalis Seeds for Anti-Asthmatic Activity

Emblica officinalis, a versatile medicinal plant, is investigated for many pharmacological activities. The plant is a unique source of various types of compounds having multiple chemical structures. The ethno botanical and reported studies clearly indicate that it is used to treat asthma. Since fatty acids play a vital role in the formation of inflammatory mediators involved in the pathogenesis of asthma, the relationship between various reported fatty acids in the seeds of Emblica officinalis and the targeted proteins (IL-4, IL-13, TNF-α) relating to asthma in human are not reported so far. Here, the estimation of phytoconstituents from Emblica officinalis is reported. Further, the in silico docking (LibDock methodology) studies of fatty acids with asthmatic proteins are performed and reported. The result confirmed that the fatty acids in the seeds are having significant interaction to the specific target proteins and act as inhibitors for asthmatic proteins.
