Graphene oxide was functionalized with triethanolamine and then sulfonated using chlorosulfonic acid. The resulting catalyst was characterized using various analytical and microscopic methods, including FTIR, XRD, FESEM, EDAX and TGA. To investigate the catalyst''s application, the synthesis of 14-Aryl-14H-dibenzo[a,j]xanthenes was examined. The preparation of 14-Aryl-14H-dibenzo[a,j]xanthenes from the reaction of 2-naphthol and aldehydes was studied through a one-pot, quasi-three-component reaction under solvent-free conditions. The resulting catalyst offers advantages such as being non-metallic, environmentally friendly, stable in reaction conditions, reusable, affordable, and easy to use. The protocol provides benefits like solvent-free conditions, high product yield, easy purification, lack of by-products, short reaction time, and convenience.
