Nickel Oxide Nanoparticles as a Powerful and Recoverable Catalyst for the Rapid Synthesis of 2-Amino-4H-chromene Derivatives in Aqueous Media

An efficient and simple method for the synthesis of 2-amino-4H-chromenes via a one-pot three-component reaction of arylaldehydes, malononitrile, and resorcinol in H2O under reflux conditions is reported. In this reaction, NiO nanoparticles as an eco-friendly and recoverable nanocatalyst showed excellent catalytic activity. The salient features of this protocol are a simple reaction procedure, short reaction time, good yield, avoidance of an aqueous work-up, and simple purification by recrystallization.
