Green technology is currently recognized as one of the key issues in the field of chemistry. In this study, we synthesized two groups of important and bioactive heterocyclic compounds under green and mild conditions, using deep eutectic solvents (DES) composed of choline chloride and urea (ChCl: Urea (1:2)) as both the green solvent and catalyst. The procedure involved the synthesis of pyrimidine derivatives as 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-one through the reaction of 2-aminobenzamide with benzaldehyde derivatives at 100 °C. Additionally, the three-component one-pot reaction between acetylacetone, benzaldehyde derivatives, and ammonium acetate in the presence of the green solvent led to the synthesis of dihydropyrimidinones, where urea in the solvent acted as a reagent and one of the components of the reaction. Some advantages of this method include cost-effectiveness, short running time, simplicity, good to excellent yield, and easy extraction.
