Preparation of new types of liner and macro cyclic formazan derivatives based on trimethoprim and study on their biological properties

In this study, some of new linear and cyclic formazans based on trimethoprim were synthesized through the reaction of diazonium salt with imine carbanions, to produce target compounds. All of the synthesized compounds were obtained through the convenient and mild conditions with good to high yields and characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, CHNS and FT-IR techniques. The biological activity of products was evaluated against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Obtained results shown the considerable inhibition against the gram-negative bacteria.
