An efficient method for the synthesis of 2,4,6-triaryl pyridines has been developed through decarboxylative oxidative coupling of arylacetic acids and acetophenone oximes at room temperature. In the presence of KOH, singlet molecular oxygen was generated in situ through the fragmentation of trans-5-hydroperoxy-3,5-dimethyl-1,2-dioxolane-3-yl ethaneperoxate, and has been investigated as an efficient method for producing 2,4,6-triaryl pyridines. Further investigation showed that this procedures also permits the synthesis of asymmetric 2,4,6-trisubstituted pyridines.
