Adipic acid as a homogenous, effective, and environmentally friendly catalyst for the production of pyrido[2,3-d:5,6-d′]dipyrimidine derivatives

Abstract: Heterocycle compounds are one of the most important materials in organic chemistry. N-containing heterocycle materials are highly significant among other types of heterocycle materials because of their numerous applications in the pharmaceutical and medical industries. The unique roles that pyridopyrimidine derivatives play in the chemical industry are due to their antibacterial, antioxidant, anticancer, and other characteristics. In this study, we use an effective and environmentally friendly approach to synthesize pyrido[2,3-d:5,6-d′]dipyrimidine derivatives. The synthesis of pyrido[2,3-d:5,6-d′]dipyrimidine derivatives under solvent-free conditions was accomplished with the aid of adipic acid, which we employed as a biobased, eco-friendly, and green catalyst. The main benefits of our process are its green and environmentally safe catalyst, low reaction time, high yields, easy operation, and moderate reaction conditions.
