For the synthesis of the unsymmetrical pentadentate Schiff base N2O2S ligand, at first, the 2-(3-(2-aminophenylthio)propyl)isoindoline-1,3-dione was synthesized via the nucleophilic substitution reaction between N-(3-bromopropyl)phthalimide and 2-aminothiophenol. Then Schiff base HL was prepared from the condensation reaction between this compound and 2- hydroxybenzaldehyde. The amine was synthesized by adding hydrazine hydrate to the Schiff base HL. The unsymmetrical pentadentate Schiff base N2O2S ligand (H2Lʹ) was prepared from the condensation reaction between this amine and 5-bromo-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde. The related complexes of this Schiff base ligand were prepared by adding metal ions (Cu2+, Zn2+, Ni2+, Cd2+, Mn2+) to this unsymmetrical Schiff base ligand. Amine, ligand, and unsymmetrical Schiff base complexes were characterized by the appropriate spectroscopic methods such as UV-Vis, IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, Mass spectrometry, elemental analysis, and conductivity measurement.
