چکیده

The increasing need for environmentally friendly solvents in the pharmaceutical field highlights the significance of developing novel strategies to address various obstacles. The primary focus of this review is on the advancement of novel active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) based DES called therapeutic deep eutectic solvents (THEDESs), with a comprehensive investigation into their different physicochemical characteristics such as thermal stability, viscosity, and surface tension. Furthermore, an in-depth analysis was conducted to assess the multifunctional capabilities of the prepared THEDES, specifically in terms of their antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. The outcomes of this study significantly contribute to the knowledge advancement regarding THEDESs, shedding light on their potential to address sustainability challenges in the pharmaceutical industry. Moreover, the study results highlight the encouraging possibilities offered by THEDESs in drug delivery systems and therapeutic treatments, suggesting a prospective shift in pharmaceutical approaches towards more sustainable and effective resolutions.
