چکیده

Silver nanoparticles were created using an aqueous extract of Zygophyllum album and silver nitrate solution ; UV-Vis, FT-IR, and XRD were used to characterise the optical and structural characteristics of the particles. These synthesised nanoparticles' photocatalytic process was examined, and their function in eliminating the phenol red colour dye was emphasised. In the presence of a small quantity of the utilised nanoparticles and after an hour and twenty minutes, the percentage of colour dye degradation reached 50%, confirming the nanoparticles' exceptional efficacy in eliminating chemical pollutants like colour dyes. The second part of the study. investigated the anti-corrosion efficacy of XC60 carbon steel in acidic corrosive media (hydrogen chloride) using the mass loss method; the results showed that both the crude extract of Zygophyllum album and silver nanoparticles synthesized from Zygophyllum album extract have a high capacity and significant inhibitory efficacy for metal corrosion in acidic media (hydrogen chloride), with an inhibitory efficacy of 82, 99% for the plant extract and 88.34% for the synthesized nanoparticles, making Zygophyllum album a highly efficient organic inhibitor in acidic media.
