An Integrated Framework for Agricultural Pollutant Reduction: Synergizing Education and Industrial Knowledge, Green Chemistry, Cultural Practices, and Greenhouse Technologies for Sustainable Industries

Sustainable agricultural development will increasingly depend on using integrated, multidisciplinary strategies to address the increasing challenges associated with environmental degradation and pollutant build-up. This article combines research from numerous scientific, industrial, educational, and cultural sources in order to create a comprehensive framework to develop strategies that reduce pollutants within today's agricultural systems. The analysis indicates that environmental literacy (cultivated through educational efforts) is significantly associated with improved management of agrochemicals by farmers; while advances in green chemistry and safer formulations of agrochemicals are directly associated with the reduction of soil, water, and air pollutants associated with agricultural activities, Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) and cultural values associated with environmental sustainability further reinforce community-level willingness to practice agroecologically sustainable practices. The article also showed an increase in the reduction of pollutants when all four pillars are coordinated together. It is therefore essential for the integrated policy-making, inter-agency collaboration, and the transfer of knowledge from these four pillars to be reinforced to improve the long-term viability of both the green and controlled environments agricultural sectors. This review also shows a suggested framework for policymakers, educators, researchers, and the agricultural community seeking to promote the sustainable and environmentally responsible operation of their respective farms.
