Recent years have witnessed great development and more interest in research concerning nanoscale science. Nanotechnology has gained popularity over the last few years and nanoparticles are often considered the foundation of the field as they serve as a main source of various nanostructured procedures or substances. Due to their antibacterial properties, metallic nanoparticles have been developed for tissue engineering applications. Nanotechnology is the research and development, in the range of approximately 1 to 100 nanometres on atomic, molecular, or supramolecular levels, to provide a fundamental understanding of phenomena and composition. Currently, nanoscale metals are synthesized mainly by chemical methods that can inadvertently result in environmental pollution, large energy consumption, and potential health problems. These challenges have led to the development of more efficient synthesis methods such as green synthesis, where plant extracts are used as reducing agents rather than chemical agents to reduce mental ions. Compared to traditional chemical synthesis, green synthesis is more cost-effective, decreases pollution, and enhances environmental and human health safety. The current focus is to synthesize ZnO NPs using an eco-friendly method, utilizing Saussurea obvallata extract. Synthesized ZnO nanoparticles were characterized using several techniques including Fourier transform spectroscopy (FTIR), UV-visible spectroscopy scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and x-ray diffraction (XRD). The ZnO particles exhibited UV–visible absorption in the 340–360 nm range.
