Preparation, characterization, and in vitro assessment of nanogel of celecoxib based on nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) for topical application

This work aimed to create a topical gel of celecoxib based on nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) for the treatment of inflammation and related diseases. The solid lipid stearic acid, the liquid lipid oleic acid, and the surfactant tween 80 were utilized. Melt emulsification, low-temperature solidification, and high-speed homogenization techniques were used to create NLCs. Particle size analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) were used to characterize the NLC dispersion. The NLC dispersions showed d90% in the 243–268 nm range. High entrapment efficiency, ranging from 67% to 78%, was demonstrated by all of the NLCs. The SEM investigation provided additional confirmation of the NLC particle size. According to the DSC results, celecoxib was distributed within the NLCs in an amorphous condition. The percentage of oleic acid had an impact on both the release rate and the entrapment rate. The optimal formulation was NLC-F3G-C. The dispersion of nanoparticulate was appropriately gelled and evaluated for in vitro penetration.
