Study on the Physicochemical Characteristics of CI Disperse Blue 56 Dyeing on Polylactide

Attention to biopolymers has been increased owing to growing environmental awareness, rising crude oil prices, and challenges related to global warming. Polylactide fibers are used to produce biobased textiles which actually fills the gap between synthetic and natural clothes. Polylactide stands out as a potential option in many different fields for reducing environmental impact and promoting a more sustainable future. In the present investigation, physicochemical studies (morphological investigation, reflectance spectra and dyeing mechanism) of dyeing of polylactide fabric with CI Disperse Blue 56 dyestuff were investigated. The SEM images of the fabrics showed that the morphology of the polylactide fibers dyed with CI Disperse Blue 56 displayed no major physical changes at the fiber surface. Only several portions were detected on the flat surface of the fibers, which were not eliminated throughout the scouring period.
