Analysis of relationship between spatial ‎distribution of disabled people and ‎environmental variables.‏‎ A case study of ‎Ahvaz metropolis

چکیده

AbstractProblem definition: The disability and presence of people with disabilities in cities is one of ‎the main challenges that city managers and planners are‏ ‏facing with. Understanding the needs ‎and limitations of disabled people in cities requires to appropriate spatial analysis.‎Aim: The aim of this study was to analyze the spatial distribution, density and spatial pattern ‎of the distribution of the disabled people within the city. As well, the next purpose was to ‎examine the relationship between environmental ‎variables and the geographical location of the ‎disabled in the city in order to plan for the future of the disabled.‎Methodology: GIS techniques have been used for data analysis. The required ‎data includes information on 16,208 disabled people up to 2017 ‎which was recorded by Welfare Organization of Khuzestan Province. In this study, spatial ‎statistical methods such as density analysis, standard distance, global Moran’s I or high and ‎low clusters, hotspot analysis, average nearest neighbor index, mean and square of standard ‎deviation, GWR, and spatial autocorrelation index were used to ‎perform the data analyzes.‎Results: The findings show that neighborhoods 27, 16 and 93 have the highest density of ‎disabled people. The average centers for the disabled coincide ‎with the city center. Spatial distribution pattern of disabled people in Ahvaz city was a ‎clustered and the spatial correlation was positive.‎‏ ‏There is also a significant relationship ‎between population density, development level of neighborhoods, access to public transport ‎supply with the distribution of the disabled people.‎‏ ‏The results of this study show that the ‎issue of disability and planning for the disabled in the city has been neglected and needs ‎holistic policies and measures.‎Innovation: In this paper, the disability was analyzed from a spatial approach. Also, the ‎spatial relationship between disability and environmental variables has been measured.‎
