A Green Method for Metal-Assisted Assembly of New Dithiocarbamate Complexes and their Antifungal Study

New dinuclear macrocycles based on transition metal (II) dithiocarbamates are reported as a green method, accompanied by comprehensive characterization. The synthesis involved the reduction of the bis-Schiff base with NaBH4 to give bis-secondary amine, which subsequently reacted with CS2, KOH, and metal (II) chlorides to form the macrocyclic dithiocarbamate complexes in a one-pot approach. Infrared spectroscopy (IR), ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis), Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), mass spectrometry (MS), magnetic moment, elemental analysis (CHNS), metal content, and molar conductance used to identify the manner of bonding and overall geometries of the binuclear complexes. These analyses indicated the formation of binuclear macrocyclic complexes with the general formula [M(L)]2. Furthermore, the investigation suggested tetrahedral geometries for the Co (II), Zn (II), and Cd (II) complexes, while square planer geometries were proposed for the Ni (II) and Cu (II) complexes. In addition, the antifungal activity of the Cu (II) and Zn (II) complexes was explored
