Synthesis and spectral studies of mixed Schiff base of Lasix antibacterial - 3-hydroxybenzaldehyde and o-phenylenediamine complexes with metal ions and their biological evaluation

چکیده

In the current manuscript, mixed ligand metal complexes of divalent metals (+2) and trivalent chromium (Cr +3) have been synthesized utilizing a Schiff base (HL) derived from Lasix and 3-Hydroxybenzaldehyde as the primary ligand, alongside O-Phenylenediamine serving as the secondary ligand. The characterization of the bonding nature of the Schiff base has been substantiated through various analytical techniques, including infrared spectroscopy, UV-Visible spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, proton (1H) and carbon (13C) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, as well as thermal analyses. The chelates were systematically characterized using elemental analysis (C.H.N.), magnetic moment measurements, UV-Visible spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, melting point determination, and conductivity assessments. The findings from a comprehensive array of experiments are employed to elucidate the structural and bonding characteristics of the mixed ligand chelates composed of Schiff base (HL) and O-Phenylenediamine in conjunction with Cr+3, Mn+2, Co+2, Ni+2, and Cd+2 ions. Furthermore, the antibacterial efficacy of these chelates against specific microbial strains has been rigorously evaluated.
