Background and Aim: Farsnameh (horse letter) is books which examine the method of training and maintenance, health, types of horse diseases and methods of treatment of these diseases. The eye as one of the most vital organs of the horse is easily exposed to various diseases with internal or external origin. This article is a review of equine history with an emphasis on equine eye diseases in ancient veterinary history. Methods: This research was done based on library sources and descriptive method. Ethical Considerations: In this research, honesty and trustworthiness have been observed in the use of historical sources. Results: Horse eye diseases have always been of interest throughout the history of veterinary medicine and have been mentioned in historical texts, especially Farsnamehs. The importance of this research is that it lies in the fact that the authors, by emphasizing the ancient texts of the Islamic period, found diseases whose names are incomprehensible for many people today and perhaps one of the reasons for that are language changes in the field of history. Conclusion: The study of horse eye diseases in Farsnameh opens a window to the knowledge and methods of equine science throughout history. With remarkable advances in this field, studying ancient texts can help to gain a deeper understanding of the origins and evolution of equine knowledge.
