چکیده

Background and Aim: The folk medicine of the Safavid period, like many other branches of science, was influenced by the political-religious-social-cultural atmosphere of this period, and under the influence of these structural components, there were significant and significant traces of superstition in It was strengthened. This medical superstition grew and spread not only in the fields of prevention, treatment and also in order to promote health among the social classes of Safavid Iran, but in turn, on another surprising process in This period had an impact, and that was the use of some superstitious aspects of folk medicine in order to propagate Catholic Christianity in Iran by the Carmelite missionaries. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explain why and how the superstition in folk medicine is linked by providing a platform for the propagation of Christianity in Iran. Materials and Methods: This research is of theoretical type. The research method is descriptive-analytical and the method of collecting information is library and has been done by referring to documents, books and articles. Findings: In fact, the remarkable capacities that the folk medicine of the Safavid period showed from the point of view of the influence and penetration of superstitions, provided a platform to use it as a space for the propagation of Christianity by the Catholic Carmelites. In other words, the superstition in the branch of folk medicine of the Safavid period stimulated and encouraged the Carmelite Catholics to use some of the techniques and mysteries contained in folk medicine to orient the popular classes. Conclusion: The results show that the widespread superstition in folk medicine provided a space for Carmelite propagandists to become aware of such a context, to spread their religious propaganda among the Iranian masses, and to use it for their own propaganda purposes.
