چکیده

Background: Pregnant women under the age of 18 are at a significantly higher risk of experiencing pregnancy-related complications due to biological, psychological, and social vulnerabilities. Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of a Family-Centered Empowerment Model (FCEM) in preventing pregnancy complications among young mothers in Indonesia. Methods: A cross-sectional design was conducted among 110 pregnant women, selected using the Rules of Thumb method and stratified random sampling within primary health care service areas in East Java in 2024. The inclusion criteria were primiparous mothers with a gestational age within the first to third trimester and aged under 19 years. The dependent variable was family empowerment, while the independent variable was the prevention of pregnancy complications. Data were collected using a modified and validated version of the Koren Family Empowerment Scale questionnaire, which demonstrated good reliability. Descriptive analyses were performed using SPSS version 16, and inferential analyses were conducted using structural equation modeling with SmartPLS version 4.Results: Predictive relevance testing (Q²) indicated that the family-centered empowerment variable had a value of 0.504, while the prevention of pregnancy complications variable had a value of 0.345, demonstrating a good model fit. The R-squared value for the prevention of pregnancy complications was 0.436 (43.6%), indicating that 43.6% of the variance in pregnancy complication prevention could be explained by family-centered empowerment, reflecting moderate model strength. Conclusion: The FCEM effectively enhances family engagement in supporting adolescent pregnancies. Empowerment through cognitive development, problem-solving skills, perceived threat awareness, emotional regulation, and self-control contributes to improved preventive behaviors and better maternal outcomes among young mothers.
