Effectiveness of the QLIFE women digital education program in enhancing knowledge, self-efficacy, family support, and quality of life among menopausal women in Indonesia

Background: Menopausal women in Indonesia face multiple health challenges associated with hormonal changes and limited access to reliable health education, often resulting in reduced quality of life. The Quality of Life Digital Education Program (QLIFE) was developed as an application-based intervention aimed at improving knowledge, self-efficacy, family support, and overall quality of life among this population.Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the QLIFE women digital education program in enhancing menopause-related outcomes in 2025.Methods: A quasi-experimental study with non-randomized group allocation was conducted. Purposive sampling was used to recruit 48 menopausal women from two community health centers in Jakarta: Cempaka Putih Health Centre (Intervention group, n=24) and Serdang Health Centre (Control group, n=24). Group allocation was determined by study site to minimize contamination. Inclusion criteria were women aged ≥45 years experiencing natural, surgical, or medically induced menopause. Exclusion criteria included severe psychiatric disorders, cognitive impairment, or ongoing cancer treatment. Data collection instruments included a structured demographic questionnaire, the Menopause Self-Management Questionnaire (MSMQ) validated with a content validity index of 0.89, and the SF-36 for QoL (Cronbach's α: 0.76–0.93). Data were collected at baseline, one month, and two months post-intervention. Statistical analyses done by IBM SPSS version 22.Results: At baseline, no significant differences were observed between groups for most variables except age (intervention: 58.38±17.4 vs. control: 54.46±14.6 years, t=2.536, P=0.003) and baseline knowledge (intervention: 5.54±2.15 vs. control: 4.00±2.06, t=2.536, P=0.015). Chi-square tests showed no significant differences in education (χ²=7.520, P=0.057) or occupation (χ²=0.356, P=0.551). Fisher's exact test confirmed no significant ethnic differences (P=0.077). Post-intervention, the intervention group showed significantly greater improvements in knowledge (mean difference=1.625, t=3.027, P=0.004, d=0.87), family support (MD=2.833, t=2.748, P=0.009, d=0.79), and QoL domains including emotional well-being (MD=28.834, t=4.207, P<0.001, d=1.21) and social functioning (MD=36.458, t=5.082, P<0.001, d=1.47). Mixed ANOVA revealed significant group-by-time interactions for knowledge (partial η²=0.118, P=0.010) and family support (partial η²=0.085, P=0.017).Conclusion: The QLIFE Women Digital Education Program effectively enhanced knowledge, self-efficacy, family support, and quality of life among menopausal women. These findings support its potential integration into community health centre initiatives to promote holistic menopause care.
