This research investigated the dynamic behavior of a structural system with convergent bracing (CBF) by examining the damage indicators under dynamic time history and incremental dynamic analyses. Time history and incremental dynamic analyses were used to evaluate the damage indicators in the brace. The seismic performance of CBF braces was assessed by investigating the effect of CBF brace core length on the seismic response of short and medium buildings. For this purpose, three buildings of 3, 6, and 12 floors with a dual structural system (CBF brace + flexural frame), each in two states with conventional core length and short core length, were analyzed using non-linear time history analysis under 10 earthquake records. According to the results, shortening the size of the CBF brace core will increase the stiffness and dampness of the system. The displacement response and permanent displacement are permanently reduced, but the amount of base shear may decrease or increase, although this increase or decrease of base shear is insignificant. In general, shortening the core of the CBF brace has a positive effect on the seismic performance of the system compared to the CBF brace with a short core length.
