Meralgia paresthetica (MP) is a painful neuropathic condition caused by impingement of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve (LFCN). The LFCN is a purely sensory nerve that innervates the anterolateral thigh. This nerve is derived  from divisions of the L2 and L3 spinal nerves. This condition can lead to neuropathic pain, paresthesias, and dysesthesias along the distribution of this nerve.
